Rush FINALLY Nominated to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Hell hath frozen over.

Rush is a nominee for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. After years of being snubbed by the -ahem- institution, Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart are closer to being received into the hall. This should have happened years ago, long before some of the acts already selected. (I will be nice and refrain from naming names.) You know the selections are flawed when bands already in the hall were inspired by bands yet to be selected, as is the case with Rush, a group that without a doubt, continues to inspire newer bands.

Fans have been expecting Rush’s inclusion since 1998. They will have a chance to push the band onto the ballot by voting on RollingStone.com. This is the first year votes from the public will enter into the selection process.

Also nominated:  Albert King, Chic, Deep Purple, Donna Summer, Heart, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Kraftwerk, the Marvelettes, the Meters, N.W.A., Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Procul Harum, Public Enemy, and Randy Newman.

Missing once again: Todd Rundgren, KISS, Yes, Blue Oyster Cult, Judas Priest, Depeche Mode, Alice Cooper, Electric Light Orchestra, Peter Frampton, Journey…
