While this song is a bit older, what matters is it is one of the songs that I enjoyed a lot in 2022. Music went a bit heavier for me this past year. There were new releases from Ozzy Osbourne, Sammy Hagar (and The Circle), and a new Blue Oyster Cult tribute album.
I discovered three harder bands this past year and all made the Top 10 list. Lovebites is one of those discoveries. They are a Japanese heavy metal band and all women. They sing in English with musicianship beyond your average metal band. You can pick up some of their influences such as Deep Purple, Yngwie Malmsteen, and Iron Maiden. Maiden has Eddie as a mascot, Lovebites has a wolf that appears often in their imagery.
I found Lovebites through my best friend, and the video below was my first exposure to their music. A live track, they deliver the goods and I liked it right away. As I discovered them, their bass player left the band, and Lovebites began the search for a new one. The search ended a few weeks ago, and a new album is on the way. I can’t wait to check it out.
Enjoy entry #8 on my Top 10 songs of 2022, Lovebites “When Destinies Align” live in Tokyo.
(Note – the band prevents embed of their official video on websites – the video below is a reaction video – you can still see most of the video.)
